Get ready to make the most succulent and tender turkey thighs! And, they are so darn easy to make. First, you boil the turkey covered in water and a little BBQ sauce. Once tender, you remove the skin and spread the top with BBQ sauce. Finally, you broil them until the sauce becomes darkened and glazed.  That’s it! They taste AMAZING! A 4-ounce serving has 313 calories and 7 grams fat.
Ingredients
- 4 turkey thighs or 2 large turkey thighs, bone-in, skin-on (~2 pounds total)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce, I used Sweet Baby Rays or use your favorite
- Garlic powder
- Black pepper
Instructions
- In a large soup pot, place thighs on the bottom. Add enough water to cover them. Mix in 1/2 cup bbq sauce and a little garlic powder and black pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Cook for 1 hour or so until fork tender.
- Remove turkey thighs to a plate. Using a paper towel, remove the skin and discard.
- Preheat broiler. Line a baking pan with foil. Place the underside of each thigh on top of foil and spread the top of each thigh with 1 tablespoon bbq sauce. If using 2 large thighs, spread each side with 2 T bbq sauce.  Broil for about 5-8 minutes until darkened and looking glazed.  Remove from broiler, turn each over and cover each with 1 tablespoon bbq sauce. Place back in broiler and cook until tops are darkened and glazed.
- To serve, slice meat off the bones and add to a serving plate, if desired. These will keep in the refrigerator for several days and freeze great.
Notes
Makes 4 servings. Each serving, 4 ounces
Shopping Tips
In November and December, most supermarkets sell packages of turkey thighs. I used Butterball but there are other brands.
You can easily use turkey legs instead.

Could this recipe work with chicken thighs?
Lois, you sure could use chicken thighs instead. Boil chicken for 40-50 minutes if using frozen chicken thighs and 30 minutes for thawed chicken thighs or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Once cooked, remove the skin and follow the recipe to boil them.
Enjoy!
My best,
Nancy
