Skinny Tip of the Day

Fresh garlic adds great flavor to a variety of recipes. It’s so healthy too. Garlic promotes circulation and helps lowers cholesterol. It also contains sulfur compounds that may prevent cancer growth. You can increase the health benefits you receive from garlic by letting it sit for about 10 minutes after you’ve chopped it before cooking it. When a recipe calls for fresh garlic and you don’t have any on hand you can also use, for each clove, any of the following: ½ teaspoon of minced dried garlic, ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder or ¼ teaspoon of garlic salt. If you use garlic salt, omit the same amount of salt from the recipe.
