What a fun summertime cocktail. Grab a pitcher and get ready to make the most incredible margaritas you’ve ever had at home! The secret ingredient is light beer…Sounds a bit weird but don’t let that stop you from making this refreshing cocktail. You actually can’t taste the beer. It just adds a little fizz. The other two unusual additions are diet 7-up and frozen limeade concentrate. No blender or salt-rimmed glasses are needed. Each has 229 calories and 0 fat. They go down very easily and will sneak up and get you if you’re not careful. Everyone loves them! They’re truly the perfect blend of sweet and tart and just right.Food FactsThe origin of the margarita is a matter of debate, with several people claiming to have invented the drink. One of the earliest claims is that the margarita was invented in 1938 by Carlos "Danny" Herrera at his restaurant Rancho La Gloria, halfway between Tijuana and Rosarito, Baja California. He claimed to have created the drink for customer and former Ziegfeld dancer Marjorie King, who was allergic to many spirits, but not to tequila.Another claim is that the margarita was invented in 1941 by Don Carlos Orozco, a bartender at Hussong's Cantina in Ensenada, Baja California. He is said to have named the drink after a Mexican-German patron named Margarita Henkel Cesena, who was a frequent customer of the cantina.
