Ingredients
  

Ingredients for Chili:

  • pounds 99% fat-free ground turkey
  • 2 cups onions, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup frozen corn, not thawed
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 (4 oz) can mild Ortega green chiles
  • 1 (1 oz) package taco seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • teaspoon red pepper flakes

Ingredients for Toppings: Optional

  • Fat-free sour cream or nonfat plain yogurt
  • Reduced-fat shredded cheddar cheese
  • Crushed reduced-fat tortilla chips
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Salsa
  • Skinny Ranch Dressing

Instructions
 

  • To Cook in Crock-pot: Brown ground turkey in a large nonstick pan. Break turkey into pieces while browning. Drain any fat in a colander in the sink. In the crockpot, add browned turkey, onions, and all the ingredients except topping ingredients. Mix well to combine. Cover and cook for 4 hours on high heat or 8 hours on low heat.
  • To Cook on Stovetop: Brown ground turkey in a large nonstick pan. Break up into pieces while browning. Drain the fat in a colander in the sink Add all the ingredients except topping ingredients. Mix well. Bring to a boil, turn heat down to a simmer, cover, and continue to cook for 1 hour.
  • When ready to serve, place 1 cup chili in each bowl. Add the topping of your choice, if desired. Or make stuffed baked potatoes or create taco salads. The optional toppings work great for all these options. 
  • This chili freezes great.

  2. Dorre it is enough water since this recipe also uses 1 can of tomato sauce. But, when finished, you could always add a bit more water, if desired.
