The Best 5 Ingredient Chili

This chili is absolutely full-proof, is easy to make, uses classic ingredients, is healthy, and very delicious! It’s a chili recipe that you can stretch for a few nights. Serve in a bowl, top a taco salad, make tacos, stuff a baked potato, and such. Plus it freezes great. Each 1 cup serving has 259 calories, 4 grams of fat.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

1 pound extra-lean ground beef or lean turkey (93%)

1½ cups onions, chopped

1 pkg Lawry’s Chili Mix or Mc Cormick’s

1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes, not drained

2 (15 oz each) cans beans, drained rinsed (I used 1 can kidney and 1 can black beans)

½ cup water

Instructions

!. In a large pot or pan, cook ground beef or turkey and onions over medium/high heat until the meat is browned, about 7 minutes. Stir often and be sure to crumble up the meat. Drain meat mixture and return to pan.

2. To the browned meat, add the chili mix, diced tomatoes, beans, and water. Mix well to combine everything. Bring up to a boil, then turn down the heat to simmer. Continue to simmer for 15 minutes. Continue to stir often.

3. This chili freezes great! See serving tips, below.

Makes 6 cups total. Each serving, 1 cup.

Food Facts

I used black beans and kidney beans for this recipe or substitute with Pinto. Navy, or Great Northern. All work great for this recipe!

Healthy Benefits
Did you know chili is good to lose weight? This may sound like one of the bizarre ways to lose weight, but health experts say that consuming red chili peppers may help in burning calories. Adding spice to the daily diet helps dieters to lose extra calories, thanks to the special ingredient which helps in boosting metabolism.

Serving Tips
I love to serve this chili in a bowl and let everyone customize the toppings. I add chopped tomatoes and drizzle skinny ranch dressing and salsa over the top. Or stuff a potato, create nachos or try this wonderful skinny taco salad.
