March Is National Nutrition Month!

National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the American Dietetic Association. They created Nutrition Month in 1973 to promote healthy eating for everyone. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.  We think it’s a great time of year to take stock of what your family is eating.

This year’s theme for 2011, “Eat Right with Color”.  It’s not as hard as you think.  Just try to include foods of different colors on your plate and vary them day-to-day.
Choosing a variety of colorful foods is important because every color indicates the presence of different nutrients.

Start your March off right…Have a salad for lunch or dinner.  Here’s some of my all time favorites to choose from.  They’re all so delicious and satisfying you could eat a different one everyday of the week!

1. A Great Skinny Greek Salad

2. La Scala’s Famous Chopped Salad Made Skinny…

3. A Delectable Chicken Curry Salad Chock Full of Apples…

4. Cobb Salad…A Classic Made Skinny!
