Iced Green Tea and Pomegranate Juice

Iced Green Tea and Pomegranate Juice
I’m sharing my very favorite way to make iced tea!  For years now, I always have a pitcher of this super healthy, great tasting tea on hand in my fridge. It’s kinda funny that I’ve never shared it before.  Great news too - Green tea and pomegranate juice are loaded with antioxidants!!! Be sure to check out the healthy benefits below. Each skinny drink has 36 calories and 0 fat.  So refreshing, I usually enjoy 2-3 cups each day. I’ve served it now to so many people and everyone seems to love it!

Ingredients

  • 4 green tea bags, use your favorite (I like Lipton’s green tea)
  • 1 (16 oz) bottle Pom Wonderful pomegranate juice or Pom/Blueberry juice, see shopping tips
  • 8 packages of your favorite sugar substitute, I like Truvia (Stevia)
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen berries for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • In a pot, bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Turn off heat and dunk in tea bags. Dunk the tea bags several times and then let sit in pot. Steep tea for 10 minutes. Stir in pomegranate juice and your favorite sugar substitute, to taste.
  • Pour cooled tea into a pitcher. Store tea in refrigerator.
  • To serve: Add ice to a cup. Pour in 1 cup tea.
  • Garnish with 2 tablespoons frozen berries, if desired

Notes

Makes 8 cups (each serving, 1 cup tea with ice)

Healthy Benefits

Green tea is made from unfermented leaves and reportedly contains the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols. More than a decade’s worth of research about green tea’s health benefits, particularly its potential to fight cancer and heart disease-has been more than intriguing, as have limited studies about green tea’s role in lowering cholesterol, burning fat, preventing diabetes and stroke, preventing diabetes and stoke and starving off dementia!
Pomegranate juice is so good for you. Numerous studies have shown it can help to prevent heart disease, protect against some cancers and help in lowering bad cholesterol.

Shopping Tips

My favorite pomegranate juice is a brand called Pom Wonderful! My very favorite is their Pom/Blueberry juice. You can find it in most supermarkets or use your favorite. I even love their Pom/Cherry juice. Or, use your favorite brand of pomegranate juice. You’ll need 2 cups!
