You probably know by now that brown rice is healthier than white. It’s a whole grain that contains fiber, antioxidants and other nutrients. Plus, it has a wonderful nutty flavor and a chewiness that’s missing in white rice. Great news too: All of these great benefits also apply to instant brown rice! Most brands of instant taste about as good as the longer-cooking versions. The only downside is most boxes of instant cost more and some contain oil as an ingredient, which adds calories and fat. My favorite brown rice to make is still Basmati brown found in most supermarkets and Trader Joe’s.
