For quite some time now, I’ve received numerous requests for me to recreate this yummy drink. Happily, here it is and it’s so simple and so good! If you’re not familiar with Starbucks Chai Latte, it’s black tea infused with wonderful spiced flavors like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves. I think you’ll love my healthy home version. I made it sugar-free and dairy-free by using unsweetened vanilla almond milk and Truvia (stevia) to sweeten it. I based my Skinny Facts that way. It’s so versatile you can use non-fat or reduced-fat milk and add your favorite sweetener, such as honey. Each Skinny Chai Latte (sugar-free, dairy-free) has only 31 calories, 2 grams of fat and 1 Blue WW Freestyle SmartPoints, and 1 Green.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
2 Tazo Chai Organic (black tea) bags, see shopping tips
1½ cups boiling water
⅔ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, non-fat milk, reduced-fat milk or your desired milk, see shopping tips
1 package Truvia (stevia) or your favorite sweetener
Dash of ground cinnamon for topping
1. Steep 2 tea bags with boiling water in a 16 oz mug, for about 5 minutes.
2. Warm milk in microwave or on stovetop. Add 2 tablespoons of warmed milk to tea. Mix in 1 pkg of Truvia or your favorite sweetener, if desired.
3. To froth the remaining milk-If you have a hand frother use it. Froth warmed milk until fluffy. If you don’t have a frother, add the desired milk to a blender. Blend on high for about 30 seconds to make frothy. Pour milk on top of tea.
4. Top tea with a dash of cinnamon and enjoy!

Most people don’t know this but to say chai tea is redundant…as chai literally means “tea”
If you don’t own a had held electric milk frother, no worries. See the shopping tips below. Or add warmed milk to a blender. Blend on high for about 30 seconds. An electric milk frother is much better than the blender but the blender will make your milk a bit frothy.
My favorite brand of black tea to make this latte is Tazo Chai Organic It’s sold in most supermarkets and Target. It’s best to use 2 tea bags to make it a stronger brew. If you can’t find this brand there are others such as Stash Chai Spice Black Tea.
I used Blue Diamond unsweetened vanilla, almond coconut milk. Most supermarkets sell it in the refrigerated section where other milk is sold.
I suggest you buy an inexpensive handheld electric milk frother. I use mine all the time. Not just for this latte but for all my coffee lattes. There are many brands to buy at Amazon, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and such. I bought mine on Amazon. It cost only $8.99.
