Sandwich Bros. Deliciously, Easy Protein-Packed Sandwiches

The wonderful people at Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin asked if I’d try some of their sandwiches. I mentioned I would be happy to, but I’d only share them on Skinny Kitchen if I liked them. And…I really did. If you haven’t tried them yet, you are in for a super delectable treat!

Sandwich Bros., pronounced and spelled as B-R-O-S…not Brothers, are protein-packed sandwiches, handcrafted with fresh-baked flatbread pockets and premium ingredients like whole eggs, Jones® all natural sausage, 100% Angus beef, all white chicken and real American cheese. Sandwich Bros. uses local, Wisconsin meats and cheese. And high protein snacks tend to keep you energized and satisfied longer than cereals or other high carbs.

Sandwich Bros. sandwiches, found in your market’s freezer section, are available in four yummy flavors.

*Chicken Melts
*Gyro Sliders
*Angus Cheeseburgers
*Italian Sausage Melts

Quick and Easy:
First, I love how quickly a Sandwich Bros. snack, lunch or dinner comes together. They are frozen, precooked and microwavable, so you just wrap them in a paper towel, heat for about 35 seconds in a microwave, and they’re done! The pita comes out soft and everything is hot inside. Too often microwaved bread gets hard, but not these. When you have no time to cook and need a quick, nutritious snack or meal for your kids, these are perfect. And perfect for you too!

Each half pita pocket sandwich is a serving, and there are four to a box. Adding a fresh fruit salad or a garden salad on the side will make it a very healthy, satisfying snack or meal. Happily, these yummy flat bread sandwiches are all 200 calories or less.

My Favorite Ways to Serve Them:
I tried the Chicken Melt and Gyro Sliders and really enjoyed them both. I serve them with simple side dishes.

The Chicken Melt:

These are made with 100% chicken breast, lightly breaded and topped with a slice of real American cheese. I add a small amount of bbq sauce and mustard before heating and serve it with a little extra sauce on the side. Once heated, I add a slice of tomato and romaine lettuce.
Mini fruit kebabs make a fun, healthy side. As shown in the photo.  I use cocktail sticks or use toothpicks to skewer the fruit. Here, mine has watermelon, honeydew, and grapes, but you can use you own favorite fruits. Kids love these cute kebabs!

The Gyro Sliders:

These tender, seasoned beef burgers are so tasty and come topped with a creamy, herbed yogurt sauce. After heating, I again add a slice of tomato and romaine lettuce. I serve it with healthy Greek salad on a stick, which is an inviting way to serve a salad.

To make each salad stick:
a. Fold over a piece of romaine lettuce and thread onto stick.
b. Next add 1 grape or cherry tomato.
c. Add 1 slice of cucumber, cut in half.
d. Add 1 black olive (I use Kalamata).
e. Repeat steps a. through d. two more times.
f.  Drizzle with 2 teaspoons light Champagne or Italian salad dressing and sprinkle on 1 teaspoon fat-free feta cheese.

* These salad sticks can be prepped in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Drizzle the dressing and sprinkle with cheese just before serving.
