Home Recipe for Jamba Juice’s Pomegranate Pick-Me-Up
One sip and I knew I had to create one to enjoy at home! With only 4 ingredients and 5 minutes to prep, this dreamy smoothie is loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. My recipe is slightly different than Jamba’s.  I used blueberry pomegranate juice as the base and added lots of frozen blueberries and strawberries, plus a little raspberry sherbet. Each skinny 8 ounce serving has 175 calories and 0 fat.  Although it’s just an 8 ounce serving, it’s really enough and very satisfying.  Happy blending!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup blueberry pomegranate juice
  • cup frozen strawberries, unsweetened
  • ¾ cup frozen blueberries, unsweetened
  • cup frozen raspberry sherbet

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a blender.  Puree on high until completely smooth.  You might need to shake blender a bit to loosen up or stop blender to mix with a spoon to break up fruit.

Food Facts

A smoothie is a drink that’s usually made with fruit and blended with milk, yogurt, sherbet or ice cream.
Sherbet is a frozen mixture of sweetened fruit juice and water.  Sometimes it contains milk, egg whites and/or gelatin.  Sherbet is lighter than ice cream and works well in a smoothie.

Healthy Benefits

Pomegranate juice is so good for you.  Numerous studies have shown that it can help prevent heart disease, protect against some cancers and help in lowering bad cholesterol.
Pomegranate and blueberry juices are both good sources of antioxidants, vitamins C and K.  Pomegranate juice is also a good source of folic acid and copper.  Blueberry juice is a good source of manganese.

Shopping Tip

Pomegranate juice is extremely popular and is available in most supermarkets.  It’s often available mixed with other fruit juices such as cherry, tangerine and my favorite, blueberry.  Pom Wonderful is one of the popular brands available in most supermarkets.
