Skinny Sparking Apple Cider Floats

Mmm…Here’s a super yummy fall version of an old fashioned root beer float. This could not be any easier to make with just 2 ingredients, sparkling apple cider and fat-free ice cream! Of course, I’m sure you’ll want to top it off with a little light whipped cream and cinnamon.  It’s a real tasty treat the whole family will enjoy! The skinny for 1 float, 245 calories, 1 gram fat and 7 Weight Watchers POINTS PLUS. Leave off the whipped cream and it’s 6 POINTS PLUS.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients for Floats:

1 cup (8 oz) sparkling apple cider, see shopping tip

½ cup Breyers fat-free creamy vanilla ice cream or fat-free frozen yogurt, see shopping tip

Ingredients for Topping:

2 tablespoon light or fat-free whipped cream, from a can

Cinnamon

Instructions

1. In a mason jar, mug or tall glass, spoon a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Slowly pour sparkling apple cider into the glass, allowing the foam to rise and then recede before adding more cider.

2. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with a little cinnamon.

3. Serve at once. To drink-stir with straw or spoon first to blend flavors, if desired.

Makes 1 apple cider float

Shopping and Prep Tip

I used Breyers fat-free creamy vanilla ice cream. You’ll find it in most supermarkets.  If you can’t find it, use another brand of fat-free vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt. If using frozen yogurt from your local shop, freeze for at least 1 hour to harden.

I used Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Cider. It can be found in most supermarkets in the same aisle where other juices are sold.

I don’t think I have ever tried Sparkling apple cider. But with ice cream added, it can’t be too scary. I’ll have to give it a go, soon. Thanks for linking up to tip-toe thru tuesday.
